...no, not Standards of Learning, but the real deal s-oh-el. Which is basically what the city court told us when we showed up at small claims court the day we were supposed to face Mr. No Show Sod. We found out he had not been served because the address he put on our invoice was not real. So, basically we spent an extra $65 to file the court case and there's nothing they can do about it. I guess we're going to chalk it up to life experience and get the sod installed in the spring, but it's still a bummer.

To add to the bummer pile is the fact that we're going to need a new roof. We thought we could squeak by for a few years with a couple patches, but Hurricane Irene proved us wrong. There's a few too many leaky spots at this point, so it's looking like the tax return is going directly back into the house...and not in the fun way.

We still have a cute puppy, though. She's the only new pretty thing around here for now.
